I need a bright , white , light.Must use single AA NiMh cell. Two or more light levels required. Reliability of manufacturer or vendor a factor. Please offer your opinions.

Price range? Intended use? Twisty or clicky preference?

Cheapest decent multi-level I can think of is the Jetbeam C-LE at $26 (or new DX knock-off at $23) - although this light has had quality issues. Fenix L1S is a great choice <$30 if you can find one - not quite as bright, but uses a clicky which most like. L1T adds premium tint, hard anodizing (HA-III), wide input voltage, but price is a bit steep now for what you are getting output-wise.

Higher end would be Jetbeam MkIIX ($55 at DX) or their knock-off Dexlight ($45). Brightest thrower on NiMH at the moment is the Fenix L1D-CE ~$55. Lumapower M3 is nice kit light, but more expensive (>$85) due to all the extra bits (and doesn't output as much as the L1D-CE).

If you were to go for just one general purpose light, I'd recommend the L1D-CE.

+1 on the MkIIx. I leave mine in advanced mode so the first click is always bright.

I'd go for the Dexlight or the L1D-CE. Fenix Store is great at customer service and Dealextreme is also pretty good but Dealextreme's shipping is slow.
