for my parents. They live in the mountains of Colorado, at the end of a road, in a canyon, nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away - it's dark! They have bears on the property, sometimes nightly, and an occasional cougar. Can you suggest a spotlight for dad to use when the dog starts to bark? Needs to be battery powered - alkaline or rechargeable. Needs to be under $50. Suggestions would be appreciated.

My only concern about the Thor is that it might be too heavy for him to carry around if he needs to investigate things. Maybe not, but 11 lbs. seems a little heavy.

The thor is the best you can get for the price, and it's pretty comfy to carry.

It comes with a shoulder strap... if that makes any difference at all, but I would also recommend most, if not all, of the spotlights Vector makes. I have had quite a few and they are always good quality. The Thor is definitly the best value if you are looking for the brightest, however.

If you have a Home Depot or similar nearby.
For about $30.00 the Huskey 2.5 mil cp is hard to beat.
Pistol grip with trigger lock.
Includes a car charger & wall charger.
It's much lighter weight than the Thor.

The Cabelas light is actually a Vector custom built for Cabelas. Nice light, but also a tad heavy at about 7.75 pounds. It also has a shoulder strap, though.

I paid 39 for mine.

The Thor is brighter, with more throw. At least until I do my dual Osram mod to the Vector. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
