Ok. The deal. I want to build a lantern using a 14.8V 4x1 or 4x2 18650 config. Charging this with a standard wall adapter is no problem. They're ~$25 . But, since it is going to be a lantern, I was hoping to have the option of recharging it via solar panel. However, all of the 14.8V chargers I have seen run from house voltage AC. If I drop the voltage of the battery pack to 7.4V, I could run 2 18650 charger circuits inside the lantern to recharge, but that is getting kinda complicated. Anyone have any suggestions? I took a look at NIMH cells and while attractive, weigh significantly more. I'm not TOO concerned with weight, but don't want it to weigh a ton either.
EDIT: I should probably mention i'm looking at running 4 LED using a shark converter and a 20k pot. So, probably something like 0 up to 1A per led. I'm a little bummed about the ~2.5 hr min runtime on the 14.8V 4x1 pack though.
