I currently work at an Industrial Radiator facility as a Quality Inspector. My current light is a Surefire 6p with a deal extreme led upgrade. Recently my ultra powerful light (well compared to what's at work) has come to the attention of the higher ups. They were curious how I was catching alot of the damage to the cores that was not being seen by other employees. I broke out the old 6p and had them grab the main work light around the shop (the trusty 4d maglite) and asked the boss to turn on the maglite and then I turned on the 6p, the look on there faces was priceless. Well now I have the responsibility of finding a light that runs on C or D cells and is about the same size of a comparable maglite (it can be smaller) with about the same runtime, only more lumens (100+ lumens). The price range is about $50 per light. I am looking for any suggestions and reccomendations from the pros. Also if this light could be purchased locally at a major retailer that would be great. Thanks for any help.

If you already have maglites, you could get a malkoff dropin for them. THey are 50 bucks for maglites up to 3 d cells, and 60 for 4 or more cells.

+1 for the Malkoff. Maglite reliability. Malkoff quality, bright light.

I always wondered with the mag-lite drop ins, do you still get albeit brighter, but still ringy beam?

depends on the dropin style but you can always get a OP reflector. I put one on my Magcharger and my 2D stock mag, it really cleans up the beam.

I actually have the 2d husky and the 2c taskforce and will be showing them those first. I just am wondering if there is anything else out there that's readily available that's comparable.

The husky might actually be too much of a thrower for inspecting radiators. Its a very tight hotspot, with little spill.
Since they already have the mag bodies, and D cells, I think a drop in with a warm color might be best.

Too bad smaller batteries are not acceptable, I would think the Fenix E20 would be nice. 107 lumens, 2 AA batteries. Adjustable focus. Seems like a great work light to me.
