If anyone owns this light can you please tell me how you can tell this thing needs charging or is fully charged?

The manual says that if it is fully charged "the light will be green" if not it will be red. I don't even know how I am supposed to leave the battery while charging, everything off with no green or blue light at the end? Or completely off but then there is no indicator lights on at that point when the charger is plugged into the battery.

What green light are they talking about and does a red light come on when it needs charging? Where exactly on the battery are these lights they are referring to?

This is the one I am talking about.

I'm sure someone here has this one, please help, I'd appreciate it.

thanks

HA! Proof at last:twothumbs, I’ve been posting forever about how I believed there was a cheap Chinese “technically both are Chinese” version of the Oracle / Tactical HID with a smooth reflector, now how on earth do we get just the reflector for our lights:thinking:.

Sorry about the rant;), the light, if it’s anything like my Oracle “I’m sure it is” then when you plug the charger into the battery the charger’s light “not the circle light on the battery” should be red when charging and green when finished. There should be no light on the battery it’s self when charging AKA: the blue / green / white LEDs should not be illuminated, just the charger it’s self.

By the way, careful of the bulb, this thing puts out some serious Ultraviolet light:poof: “check out the Sunburn thread” Probably best for outside use only, just my 2 cents:grin2:.

Ahhhh goood. Thanks for the response. Just before I came to check for messages here I did find this little very faint green light on the back of the charger. I am happy about that.

I am new here but enjoying. Can you tell me what difference if the reflector is smooth or not.

These lights from what I can see are rebadged constantly but wow what a solidly built torch. Who would have thought China could put out something so rugged, I am seeing that a lot now.

Just as an unrelated side not I just bought this and should have it any day. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.19113
From what I hear the p7 is the best LED now and I am a fan of the big 18650 cell. At that price how can I go wrong?

I’m glad you figured out your Light, do you have the duel stage version or the newer single? I have read some complaints about the more resent variants. However the first generation “mine included” have preformed very well indeed:D.

That’s a cool looking P7 Ultra Fire your getting, but don’t expect much more then 350-400 Lumens max from it, “P7’s are not the most efficient / cheaper light / low input current 1.8 A, at least it should not over heat, remember to never leave it running by it’s self with out your hand to heat sink it, because it could.

Cree is now making S2 LEDS “R5 are more available” though which are much more efficient, they have already broken the 200 Lumen a Watt barrier “though such technology is not out yet” but realistically you can get between 350-400 lumens from their new LEDs at only 1A VS. The P7 needs 2.8A+ for 700 lumens. I was saying the light was cheap not the P7 LED you normally have to spend a good chunk of money to get the full capabilities of the P7 in a light: “Upwards of $100+”. I would personally gone with a high quality $40 Fenix or something in the 200 Lumen range, it’s going to be nearly impossible to beat out your 35 watt HID with any lesser lights, so a more well rounded one would be nice. Have you used your light yet?

Thanks, I see what you are saying on the Fenix thing. I like their TK's.

About that HID light, I just took it out on my balcony and it lit up everything around I could see, buildings, huge field with houses way over on the other side that I was lighting up. I was pretty impressed for someone who has never used one before.

A coworker is going to bring his regular maglite 3D cell flashlight to work tomorrow to compare the brightness. Considering the high temperature I think I might have over hyped the expected apparent difference and indoors shining on a wall mine may not look even 10 times as bright simply because of the color. Maybe its just because I have nothing to compare it to at the moment.

I can't see that maglight doing anything even close to what this HID just did off the balcony lol

Beam comparisons anyone? :)

Also, which light out there can get the FULL capabilities of the P7, im talking close to the advertized 900 lumens?

Now that CREE has broken 200 lumen/watt it must be a matter of time before every other light source in a flashlight is obsolete including HID? Imagine 35 watts at 200 lumens per watt. Thats 7000 lumens out of something the size of a K3500R. Isn't that possible?

Sorry about your experience with the HID “not working anymore” I don’t know what you can do with it at the moment, Oracle had a 1 year warranty for any problems. If you got it working again then there is no comparisons to a ”stock” Maglite. Regular 4D = 50-60 lumens, even a Police Mag Charger = 210 Lumens, 35 watt HID is around 2,800 Out the front Lumens!

As far as your request for good P7 lights, The ones I think about are the Fenix TK40, EagleTac M2C4, Elektrolumens P7 Maglite, and that other fancy ring adjusting one that takes 3x 18650 batteries, I can’t remember it’s name but it’s the nicest one.

All these lights will be a good deal brighter, and nearly infinitely more reliable / long lasting compared to any UltraFire, just my 2 cents.

And yes when the technology finally hit’s the market such high power LED lights would be possible.

They are just sending a new battery. I guess its going to be alright.

I'll look at the fenix TK40
