A friend of mine, who also works with me here in the office, has brought me his Sure Fire 9AN Commander and would like some help. He has had this light for almost 2 years now. Not long ago, the light slipped from his grip while working, and it hit the ground. The impact knocked out the bulb assembly (N90). So, he went and picked up a new one, (ouch!! $30+ dollars) and put it in. However, the functioning is not what it is supposed to be. The main bulb (140 lumens) seems to work OK, however, with the 9AN you can rotate the bezel to activate the secondary bulb (20 lumens). Now this particular light seems to work “iffy”. Like the activation of this secondary bulb is not as sure and positive as it was originally. You have to twist it back and forth a few quick short strokes to get the right spot to activate the secondary bulb.

So, question, does this sound normal? Could something else be wrong with the light?
Have any of you run into similar problems with the 9AN? Any comments would be appreciated.

Also, following whatever guidance and advice I get here, I will approach Sure Fire and see if this is any sort of a repair or warranty claim. I just wanted some feed back before I bring it up with them.
