need info on "ball lock pins"?..

I once saw these small quick release cylindrical ball lock pins and was wondering if they could work as a good lanyard clip? I don't know what these pins are called but they look like a small male to female cylindrical pins that snap into each other with split rings at each end. Did anyone try them for a flashlight lanyard clip? If you understood what I'm trying to say here, :) where can I find these things?

That's exactly what I was talking about. What are these things called and are they secure enough to use for lanyard attachment?

I am using three of them. I like them, but if You need the ability to disconnect the flashlight with one hand, then You need a split ring that is larger than your thumb at the flashlight to operate it easily.
