One of the guys here in the shop is currently running a SureFire M4 with the MN61 HOLA (350 Lm) on a perimiter defense weapon, and he needs more. Short of mounting an M6, I have no additional advice. He wants more runtime and if possible, more light as well. Is there anything on the market similar to LumenFactory replacement bulbs for this application that will give him a devastating amount of light from that setup? Open to any and all suggestions...

Thanks-

If it is stationary get the hellfire. Sure its expensive but with a vehicle or a pair of 8085's (thats right right?) it will get the job done.

If hes mobile then im not sure

So he wants more runtime and more output? Does he want fries with that?

It seems like you get to choose runtime OR output, not both, when you upgrade. Does he need more intensity for distance or is he looking for more spillbeam?

There are 3 important parameters in lights:

Size
Output
Runtime.

You can pick any two as your choices, but not all three.

Since size is already determined, (It is an M4) you only get to pick one of the others. If you want bright, runtime decreases, if you want runtime, light output decreases.

You get to pick, but you can't have your cake and eat it too with lights!!

SureFire do make the M500B Series WeaponLights which are the WeaponLight version of the M6 for several models of rifle and carbine.

DONT DO THAT! it will blow the bulb. as the mn20 and mn21 is rated at 9 volts not 18 volts.

Well stated. The M6 is wired as 3 batteries in parallel with 3 others for 9V total.

o well i know what I won't be doing anytime soon:lolsign:

thanks for letting me know guys!

Tenergy makes AA's that can discharge safely at rates up to 18A

That could be rigged up to a 12V/216Watt bulb (10xAA pack)

I know it's a bit large, but I image it would be bright...runtime would be around 30-40 minutes with their 1800mAh AA's

benchmade_boy just saved ya some money! :)

So now next time a dealer has a new light for sale, and benchmade_boy or I have the same used light for sale at a lower price, just remember who's really your friend. ;)

BA5590's (non-rechargable Lithium cells.) There is also a rechargable pack but I don't remember the nomenclature for that.

Mount the M6 :)
