Need to buy a couple of good led lanterns

I Need to buy a couple of good led lanterns, any recommendations?
Also where to buy them on the net, they aren't too common in Australia.

Same here, Norm - I've just started looking for something like this too. I saw this report that Coleman have just announced a Cree_Lantern, although I don't know if it is available yet.

Here's another_link to it. Runs off 3 x CR123A, 5 hours on high (100 lm), 12 hours on low. Weight ~5 oz with batts. Available August 2007. Sounds pretty good.

I am also waiting for the Coleman with the Cree. If you wanted something sooner than August than I could offer some good suggestions. E gear has some cool lanterns to look at. The osram is a small lantern that is pretty good.

Target sells a good lantern called a River Rock with a K2 led. I think they are only available at the Target stores so if you found someone here in the US you might get them to ship it to you. On Nuwai's site under new products they have a Cree 3 AA and 3 D lantern. The 3 D sounds really cool. Don't know when it's going to be available though, can't find anything on it on the net. I couldn't really care less if I can't buy it until September or something. Calls them "X-Glow" or something.

My jaw dropped when I found one of these at an Uncle Dan's store here in Chi-town for $50.00. I got the River Rock version at Target for much less.
The only difference seemed to be that the E Gear lights had more colorful trim. :shakehead

Well the cree lantern will be out soon,,but the k2 version at coleman's uses AA BATTS INSTEAD OF MORE EPENSIVE 123'S and it's very bright , and according to store salesperson I talked to will be at a clearense price very soon.
