Sorry guys, need you help on this one please.

I understand that the Triton can be run off a laptop adpator and am wondering how to do it cos the input terminals are actually crocodile clips.

1. Do I have to snip off the output jack of the adaptor, separate the wires and twirl them around the correct crocodile clips?

2. Regarding charging, I have read that Nimh should be charged in series, what about for Li-ion?

3. For charging in series, I know someone has made a clamp to be used for this purpose. Can I do a shortcut and just use rare earth magnets to hold the batteries together instead?

Thats all for now...

Thanks for your help guys!

check out links in my sig below. that should get you started.

you really need a proper power supply. one of the best/cheapest regulated power supply is a converted PC power supply.

laptop adapters will work but amps delivered will limit triton's performance.

try to use only protected li-ion cells. avoid charging li-ion in series
greatest danger of using li-ion, occurs during re-charging

this type question constantly pops up. sorry if my answer is short, but all sorts of info in links...
lost track of how many times I've typed this same answers...

Hi cy, thanks for chiming in. I had read that battery clamp thread before posting my question. I was wondering if I could just use magnets to hold the batteries together instead of looking for and modifying one of thesed clamps?

I also know that a laptop adpator will limit the performance of the Triton, but at this point in time, I suppose that I'm just looking for a quick and simple solution to start me off first.

So, how do I connect the laptop adaptor to the Triton?

A cheap PC powersupply will outperform most laptop powersupplies, and is cheaper too. But the laptop supply is easier to connect. the quick and dirty way you mentioned before (snap off & twirl around) is the easiest, but not really recommended. its better to cut the cord of the Triton itself (at about 6-8 inches from the charger will do fine). Then mount high capacity connectors (like used in high performance RC cars) on both ends of the wire. that way you can easily re-connect the crocodile clamps. Also mount one of those connectors to the laptop powersupply, that way you can easily connect it, and swap it with other powersupplies. Ofcourse, you can fit connectors to other powersources too, making this a pretty versatile setup.
