Needed - \"PR\" type bulbs for generator lights

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif
Does anyone know where I can buy some "PR" flange type bulbs that would work in
self powered generator style lights?

These bulbs do not have any numbers on them,
and use very little power.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: This is my first post, but I have been a huge fan
of CPF for a long time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks !

Re: Needed -

I'd goto the local radio shack and get a 3V PR based bulb. I have one of those squeeze powered lights and it has a screw-in bulb, but no numbers, either...hhmmmm...

Re: Needed -

Hi Dano,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried every normal PR type bulb, from a pr2 up to a pr30. they all require too much juice. I don't even get a glimmer of light with any of the normal PR bulbs.

I also have some generator lights that take the screw in bulbs. They are marked 2.4volt .15amp.
These light up, although a little dim, if I just hold them in place to try them. I need a bulb that is rated at even lower than the 2.4volt .15amp.

Maybe someone else will have another plan.
We'll wait and see.
Thanks again, Dave

Re: Needed -

You might try breaking the bulbs and soldering some 5mm amber LEDs into the base instead. There are plenty in the 1.8V 20mA range, I'm sure you'd get decent light out of them.

Re: Needed -

If you are going to mod it to LEd, check the output of the generator first. The squeeze light I modded to LED produced AC voltage, and I had to put a little bridge rectifier in to make it work.

Re: Needed -

they use a pr9
might be a bit of fun to find them though.
i am going to ls mod mine.

Thanks all for the great replies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I have already made a 3 led bulb replacement that works
great. I would like to put them back to original.
The other day I bought a couple modern "made in china"
squeeze lights on ebay to add to my collection and to my delight, they each had a spare bulb, just like I needed.

I would still love to find a source for these. Otherwise, I will end up buying more of these "cheap" lights and keeping the bulbs and tossing the lights............well, maybe tossing them into a drawer for another day! Can't throw anything flashlight related away!

I'll keep looking, and if I see any pr9 bulbs, I'll give one a try. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks, Dave
