I am making a 2D mag asphericak thrower and I am wondering a few things.

1. How do most people hook up the negative power?

2. Do they use the body as the path like the stock mag lights do? What about resistance when using the body and that tiny set screw in the switch?

There are several ways to do it. But most I would say use the set screw with the normal current paths. Resistance in the solid material is minimal, it comes more from the small springs or tail cap. Or the kind of wire you use if its too small.

LED,

Echo +1 for Mettee about the host carrying the -V load. If you do a search for "low resistance tailcap mods" you'll see several threads discussing how to improve the -V connection at the tailcap.

I think I just watched a youtube vid that technoCowboy did where he shows that typically the tail cap has very little resistance. He shows a light that has a multi meter in line with it running, then when he switched to the cap the emitter turned blue, the cap caused less resistance than the DMM.

So you can make the tail cap work well as described above by gurthang.

eta: meant to say "modded" tail cap
