Hi,
I received a new A2 from a fellow CPF member today. Nothing would work - no LEDs, no incan. I also received a L2 (which works), so I swapped tailcaps. A2 still didn't work. Tightened the bezel (which was already tight). No luck. Swapped new batteries for more new batteries. Still didn't work.
It seems like some sort of contact is being made 'cause the batteries get nice and warm if I twist the A2's tailcap all the way on and wait a minute or so before taking off the tailcap and removing the batteries. Just absolutely no light.
The threads of the body closest to the bezel do have what appears to be an intentional flat spot up by the clip. However, from JS' pictures in his A2 opus (https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/107943), everything at that end looks like it should.
I wiped the threads on both ends of the body with an old shirt to try to clean them off, but they didn't look too bad to begin with. I haven't tried cleaning the threads with anything stronger. I don't have anything fancy ... just some isopropyl alcohol as well as Radio Shack tuner control cleaner & lubricant. Can I use either of these?
Any other suggestions other than sending the thing back to SF ... and waiting?
