Hi guys I have just purchased a Powerex MH-C801D charger along with 8 Powerex 2700 batteries to use on my Princeton-tex Apex headlight.
Could you please tell me, when I do the first charge of the batteries do I use the conditioning and soft charging mode which takes up to 35 hours to complete.

Thankyou

Hello Roybert,

Welcome to CPF.

New cells can benefit from a "standard" charge, but I don't believe the 801 is capable of that. The standard charge is 0.1C for 16 hours.

I would suggest just charging them up and using them. Keep an eye on them during the first few charges. If they start to heat up, pull them from the charger to terminate the charge. Sometimes new cells will not send a good end of charge termination signal to the charger, but the 801 is pretty good.

Use your conditioning and soft charge cycle every 20 - 50 charge/discharge cycles to keep your cells vibrant.
