Their data sheets are screwy - look to be full of typos at best, completely wrong at worst.

So what's new? These are the lithium polymer cells that the model aircraft folk have been using for a couple of years now...

Yep.. These are not new, and have been used for RC for the last year or so.. The current generation of cells is good for 5C discharge and up. Cells available here, Application Manuals here and here .
