Greetings,

I haven't visited CPF in some time, but clearly a lot has happened in terms of new LED lights. I wanted to pick up a few different kinds but was a bit overwhelmed. I have a kid on the way and don't have too much time to go through all the past threads (as informative as they are.)

(1) Is there a better AAA light than the Fenix LOD CE for under $50?
(2) For a single AA light to replace my Inova X1, I am thinking about the L1D-CE. Any strong opinions on a better model in its price range?
(3) Finally, for a 2x123A model, which is the brightest light? The Lumapower M3? Any other favorites for multiple levels and a crenelated bezel?

Best,
Michael

For single AA, I don't think you can go wrong with the L1DCE. Great on Energizer e2 Lithiums and NiMH. For added versatility, you could even go for the 2AA tube.

(1) Not that I know of. I love my LOD CE.

(2) Don't have the L1D CE, but its reviews are very good. For $26, my DealExtreme JetBeam is a terrific 1xAA light, but there has been inconsistent QC on them. The same dealer now has a rebranded version (Dexlight) for $24. Haven't seen any reviews yet, but it could be another bargain.

(3) The Lumapower M3 is a great set-up. I have one and love it. It has several different configurations included---1xAA, 2xAA, and 1x123A, but not 2x123A. FWIW, the 1xAA configuration, using a li-ion 14500, is a current favorite of mine, and would be a stout competitor to the L1D CE, above (though considerably larger).

For a 2x123A, crenelated bezel, and multi-level light, I have and like very much the Huntlight FTO1 Cree, available from JSBurly's.

Good luck.
