New Cree R2 Cree LED Buckle Flashlight

I wouldn't worry yourself too much. The perceived difference between the Q4 and R2 will be virtually indistinguishable. The Fenix will long outlive that less expensive option.

Interesting... Thanks for the heads-up. But I bet the battery dies in like 30 minutes. I'm curious to see the runtime. I hope that DX sticker comes off easily. :)

Im' wondering if the R2 can be taken out and put into something like L2D or P3D...ummmm...

It look like a really nice little light, especially for $15. I just might have to put that in with some other stuff.

Q2 emitter, no worries. If it was an R2 for $14 I think people would be buying them to pull the emitters out. Maybe this is a marketing ploy; the name of the light is R2.

The description says "Features a Cree XR-E Q2 LED Emitter" - hopefully that's just been cut-and-pasted from somewhere else. Or maybe the heading is wrong.

Looks nice for $15.

Whose brighter/or considered the top guy more or less, R2, Q2 or P4 Cree?

And yeah, I sure wish they'd get the misleading stuff straightened out there.
R2 name, Q2 emitter - which is it?

I'm aiming for a Cree AAA, sub $20 to eventually put in a green Cree.
(could do the same setup with a Seoul light/led, but Crees seem the hot thing)

I was going to go for the E01, but I just don't think it and it's Nichia would be bright enough for me. I go for brightness vs longevity as I usually have spare batts around.

Yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't have messed up.

Ok, so quick question, IYHO, for brightness, Q2 or P4 Cree?
(and I'll eventually be swapping out for a green Cree)

Tx.

And there is the v4 Buckle at KD in either Q2 or Q5 which I assume Q5 is brighter, higher lumens.

Are both of these still brighter than P4?

Hm, Q2 Cree at DX or Q5 at KD.
I know Cree offers green in XR-E, but not sure if both in Q2 and Q5. I'm trying to search on that.
DX sells a Cree green LED but I have no clue specifically which one it is as they don't mention.

I wonder if this would work in any of these Cree flashlights sold in the $15-$22 range at DX and KD. I.e, if this was a XR-E (which I think it might be) could I put it in a P4 Cree light?

Kyle at DX just confirmed that it IS an R2 Cree LED.
Aw man, this stuff is getting to be head spinning!

I hope they update the description then.

The Cree Q5 Buckle at KD for $22 would be overlooked if this $15 R2 Cree at DX has higher output and if I could buy that green Cree offered at DX (possible XR-E) and mod it in.

i just buy what you guys tell me to :)
the website has been updated, it definitely is r2.
pick one up for yourself before i get the last one.

I do not think an 8% difference in output is worth worrying about.
Cree R2 100 lumens per watt.
Cree Q2 77 lumens per watt.
Cree P4 71 lumens per watt.

So any Cree expert know if this green Cree at DX (possibly XR-E) would be able to swapped into a P4, Q2, Q5, etc?

If so, then I could buy really any of these sub $20 Cree's and not have to pay mind to Q2, Q5, R2, A1, Z2, W5, F7, O8, etc etc, LOL!
I'd just be swapping out whatever stock Cree LED anyway.

Tx.

you can, but youd have to find the correct sized connection star/circle or whatever shape the connection board looks like. In a light as small as the one in question, its likley just a bare emittor, so it means you have to unsolder the LED from its connection board, and resolder it to whever the one in the light is. Not an easy task.
