New E2E, Questions??

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Yes, the KL1 can run on 1, 2 or 3 cells due to the boost/buck circuit it uses. You'll get the same brightness, but more runtime if you run it on 2 or 3 cells.

Yes the KL1 runs fine on an E1e, should be about an hour and a half of runtime till 50% of brightness.
Roy has a done a runtime, check the reviews forum.

OOOHHH, boy.

now i have to save my pennies!

IMHO, that is a VERY attractive light.
wow.

i sometimes carry a TL2 LED, though it is a bit large. i clip it in my front pocket.
looks like the E1E or E2E with a KL1 would be just a bit smaller (especially the E1), with similar output--and regulated.

didnt someone state that you can place a 2 stage tailcap on the E series? maybe it was another series...

Bob

Yes Bob, you can put McGizmo's McE2S 2 stage tailcap on the E series body. If you're thinking of a two stage tailcap, then the KL4 would be a good idea, you can have a low output comparable or even less than a KL1, and the full 65 lumens on high. You should check out the LED and McGizmo's forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bravo25:

Your E2E looks like it has the longer belt clip of the Outdoorsman. Are these interchangeable (E2E and E2O) and do they sell the longer ones as accesories? I want a longer one but hate to buy another light just to get one.

Cliff, they are interchangable, but sometimes it takes a bit to remove them. I believe you can contact Surefire about them if you want. Alternatively, you can contact an Ebayer by the name of "surefireparts" (he's also a CPF member, jcciv I think) he has some long clips for sale, at least he did two days ago /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually that is the Outdoorsman. Still E series body, and as stated above, yes the clips can be changed. The longer clip has the advantage of giving more "slide" room before it becomes dislodged from the pocket. The shorter one seems to make better use of leverage, giving you a tighter clip to the pocket.

Thanks for the welcome daloosh!

Hi voodoo, Had a good idea what I was getting after reading a bunch of the posts here, and using the Surefire comparison chart. They sent me a catalog with the order.
Can you say, Xmas ideas?

I must not have a good sight referance,, I had seen plenty of pic's but it still didn't register, I thought it would be about little smaller then an 8nx, sized. so I knew it was small, but when came I was shocked that it was that small. it's smaller then a mini mag! and when i showed friends they all went nut's at how bright it was. My fav light at this point.

Yeah, I got my eye on a kl4, E1e, and one of the rechargeabes's 9ax probably, for christmas, see which family member love's me the most /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/santa.gif and a spare's kit soon as SF get's them back in stock. Once again i love this light! VDG

The KL1 is a must have for any E series light owner. The only draw back to the KL1 (now that they are using high domes in them) is the optic, but that can be quickly remedied with an IMS reflector.

Many arguments can be made for using a KL4 on a single cell body, but the KL1 is more of a flood light. If you need or prefer something with some throw, the KL1 will do nicely.

If, in the future, you become bored with your KL1, you could have it overdriven to get some real light out of it, although the stock bias is usually more than enough for most tasks.

If cost is a concern, the KL4 is much more costly than the KL1 is. In fact, you could get a KL1, send it to a modder and have a full blown mod done on it and you'll still wind up spending less money that you would on a KL4.

The key LED head feature I'm looking for is run time at good output (for camping, etc.) & good value for $, so the 15 Lumens KL1 seems to be the ticket. (I figure I'll hit up a relative for this KL1 at Xmas)

Sidenote, it's started already, that Surefire fever...
C3-HA will ship tomorrow. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

HEH, I've just corrupted another one into buying it... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin07.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've got many lights, but there are none I turn to as much as the KL1. It's the workhorse and balances both power (5mm LEDs just don't cut it) and runtime - 100 to 120 minutes on good cells. If you use the E2e body, you can get runtimes of up to 5 hours. The E1e+KL1 is 3.7" long.

Thanks for the tips on E2E belt clips. I contacted both Surefire and Surefireparts and will see what develops.

It sure does take some careful work, elbow grease, and a hammer and small flathead screwdriver. Firm but gentle taps will get the clip off. Getting the replacement clip on is another matter, but you get the idea.

There's a tiny little plastic wedge that you don't want to lose. It will come flying out if you're not careful. I know from whence I speak, having replaced the short clip on my beloved E2e with the longer clip.

Well, I got a hold of Surefire and my new clip is on the way. Very responsive folks - I anticipate doing alot more business with them.

So, do you tap the clip straight out with light blows? I'll give the matter some study when the new clip arrives and hopefully not screw it up.

Use a piece of string to remove the clip, a screwdriver could damage the finish if you slip!

After trying several methods I will give you the best I have found. First remove the bezel, and O-ring. Next Hold the light with the top up next to a table edge, and the bottom of the clip resting on the table top. Lightly strike the top of the battery tube with palm of your hand driving it downward. This will push the clip up, and out. When replacing the new clip just start the clip into the groove, and then insert the plastic tab in behind it. Turn the light over, place it against the table as before, and push down. Only this time remove the tailcap, and seat the clip, and plastic tab as far as it will go easily. Before replacing the O-ring screw the head down to insure that the plastic, and clip are seated all the way to the bottom. Remove the head, replace the O-ring, replace the head, and your done.

tracker870,

When you get that C3 and get tired of seeing the beam yellow as the batts die, you can then get a hotrodded KL3.

Hey, it never stops. But seriously, you should get yourself a nice BRIGHT LED light. If you really use your lights, you'll get tired of buying replacement lamp assemblies.
