New Fenix LD10 & LD20

I personally think they should have put knurling on the head if they wanted to upgrade something.

Been carrying the fenix LD20 Q5 for over 2 months, I love it. Everybody I've shown it to is blown away by the amount of light out of only 2 AA's. I've never tried a Quark, but it appears to be the same light with less lumens, at least by advertised ratings. But I guess that is why there are so many choices, for as many tastes.

Quark's are OTF lumens.

has Ti coating, interesting. but whats the point? stainless steel is just as good.

But i prefer a Ti version of LDX0 series altogether.

Yawnorama.

OK, the knurling's nice, but the low is still too high and I bet there is still little difference between high and turbo on a single AA.

Pocket clip doesn't really get me going, since I never use them anyway. At least it looks as though it comes off easily enough.

Gotta try harder, Fenix - wouldn't it have been better to put an XP-G in it ?

Hmmm, does seem that Fenix could have done better but still they have a pretty solid track record that the Quarks don't have yet.

Still, i agree with the suggestions above about the low lows etc.

oh wow! just yesterday I was thinking that a clip for my LD10 would be great when I wear loose pants and now this comes out.

Thanks to the OP!

I've got a L2D rebel100 rated 175 lumens, and my quark neutral with a Q3 (I guess would be rated 140 lumens by 4sevens) seems to be brighter. I'm pretty sure the regular R2 will definitely be brighter than the LD20.

Do you think anyone will be selling the clip separately?

I do wish it put the light a little deeper in the pocket so practically nothing is seen. I currently EDC my LD10 with a crappy pocket clip canibalized from a mini-mag. Sure beats having it loose in a pocket or hastling with a holster IMO.

2 cents: the LD10 is awsome...bright, great UI, quality build. As for needing a lower-low, I carry the tiny Victorinox NEW Signature Lite (white LED, ink-pen, scissors, screwdriver, knife) on my keychain. lumens = ??.

The changes in body design near the tailcap on the new LD20 looks good to me. I like the new trapezoid threads but these can also be found on Quarks which even has lower low modes ;)

Fenix isn't trying hard enough to improve its L&P series, is it?

EDIT: Actually Fenix's clip on the LD10 looks better than Quark's as the clip is not touching the head, should be easier to operate.

I was like, wait a minute, I don't remember the LDxx series having clips. Then I clicked on the original link and "ohhhhh" these are "new" LD10 LD20 lights. They should differentiate it somehow in the name or version because this is just going to cause confusion for people buying or talking about it.

So what really is new?
-steel clip with ti coating
-trapezoidal threads (wonder if that's gonna be like the quark square threads)
-slightly different body design

With the new threads they basically made it completely non-interchangeable with body parts from current fenix offerings which were lego-able before and still manage to use the same name as a model that did lego well with others before. This could end up causing a mess with the spare parts catalogs.

So Fenix improved leather seats and door handles but screwed up the engine and gear box. Are they planning to work themselves out of the market or something?
WHAT on earth are they planning to compete with the Quark?:poke:

Keep in mind they don't look the best either.

Can you pleeeeeease start and put that mind power to use.. Can you start thinking how good it would be for the LX1 to be released? Or dare I say it... Invictus?

Hello,

I love my L2D rebel 100.
Gradually this series of lights became less and less pocketable and less and less suitable for EDC:
First we had the L2P and L2T (sleek lights)
Then came the L2D with the larger head
Then came the LD20: larger still with the anti-roll device (ugly):shakehead:shakehead
Then came the addition of the clip (uglier still).:shakehead:shakehead

Please, Fenix, stop that evolution! :poke:
And, contrary to others, I like a useful 15 lumen low. If I want less than 10 lumens on low, I will take my ARC AAA or Peak.

Please don't tell me I am the only one who dislikes this evolution. In any case, I bought a spare L2D Q5, should my current L2D break down.

Kind regards,
Joris
