New Fenix PD20 & RCR123a

Just got the new Fenix PD20 R2 and it does not seem to be compatible with AW RCR123a's :(

With the AW's the light is always on max. There is no change in brightness when switching between modes. Has anyone else gotten one of these and had this behavior?

The previous PD20, which I have, is that way and no reason to believe this model wouldn't be.
