I was at the Toronto boat show and saw the FOX40 rep showing a new flashlight to a retailer. FOX40 is a whistle developed by a Hamilton area track coach that uses 2 tones to create a "beating" sound. This allows it to emulate a traditional "pea" coach whistle, but without the pea so it doesn't freeze up. A very cool product.
Anyway, the flashlight has an array of white leds on the front. It also has a few green leds for night use (preserve night vision). It seems to use 3 AAA cells in a pull out holder. It of course is water resistant or waterproof in some way. Neat feature is the fact that it floats and will turn on automatically if immersed in water (flashing I believe). Generally, selecting the modes is done by rotating the head.
He mentioned a Canadian list price of around $145. A bit steep, but not bad for a good tool for marine use. He also mentioned that in pricing, you can always go down, but not up...
