So I have an idea for the way I want to EDC my Quark mini 123, But I think I need some input on how best to do it. Or maybe its been done before.

I want it to hang inside my pocket via paracord lanyard without slipping down to the bottom and turning sideways. It needs to be parallel with my leg otherwise its uncomfortable. So my idea is to have like a short (about 2-3") length of paracord with one end attached to the bottom of the light and the other with some sort of hook or clip (kind of like paper clip shaped) to hang on to the pocket top.

Ideas?

Add a little bit more and get Titanium instead of stainless steel. And, bonus!, from the original designer -- Deryk Munroe Dangler DTS:

More infos and other options available as well here:

That is pretty neat. For summer edc when coat pockets are usually not available, I typically just use a flashlight with a bezel down clip though, like the Vital Gear bodies have.

I've been using one of those NiteIze S-Biners clipped to a belt loop with the QMini 123 hanging into the pocket from it with paracord. It's easy to unclip the light and very secure.

I do something similar with keys all the time. Long ago, I think I read that McGizmo uses a system using tubular webbing, a titanium ring and his fabulous clips.

My version is more bargain basement. I use a double bowline knot to secure a paracord line to a belt loop. At the other end, I use a lanyard/diamond knot to secure an ITW/Nexus "wingless" snap hook (http://www.itwnexus.com/catalog/index.php/dw/op/a/4/c/0/p/34). Fiddly part is adjusting the length of the line so the hook and keys "hang" in the pocket without hitting bottom.

I think I use about 3 feet of paracord, total. With my tying skills, there's a lot of waste trimming it up nicely. If you want to try this, you can get a few sample wingless snap hooks from ITW/Nexus free as a sample.

I've tied this on to about four pairs of pants/shorts and it works well. Another nice thing is, the setup weighs next to nothing and goes through the wash without issue.

I hope that helps.

Picture? I'm having a hard time visualizing this

i keep mine hanging from keybak retractable keychain that is clipped on my belt. short lanyard and gate clip so i can remove the light if i must. but the super 48 model gives me plenty of reach. if i accidentally drop the light it will not drop on the floor.. it will just retract back up. (lmini2 is about heavyest i will pull all the way up.. something like cr123 and aa lights are easy.) -also after i have started to use my main edc light thru this lanyard setup i have not forgotten the light once in some weird place like shelf table or chair.. if i go, it hangs with me. :)

about previous set up.. i think its just a simple rope knot (google) tied to belt loop and to the clip. and the light hangs from the carabiner clip.. and he just removes (i hope) the flashlight and lets the rope and carabiner go thru wash cycle.

which reminds me.. i need to go take the itp eos out of my trouser pocket.. its going to washing machine soon. lol. it has gone thru 3 times already. its just too tiny for me to remember to remove.

Sorry, no picture. NonSenCe has it right. The double bowline is a "permanent" attachment to the belt loop. At the other end, the lanyard/diamond knot provides a loop for the clip. The length of the cord is adjusted so the keys/flashlight are IN the pocket, but don't reach the bottom of pocket. In the case of my keys, I just attach the key ring to the clip. Since the whole setup is paracord and plastic, you can just leave it attached to the belt loop and run it through the wash. I detach my keys and certainly would remove a light before washing.

I can't seem to find the original McGizmo post on this (which had nice pictures) . . . maybe someone else's CPF Google-Fu is stronger than mine. There's a small chance it was posted on another forum.
