Ok folks I am going camping this weekend with my girlfriend and want a new lantern. I have a couple of the old style that use the huge 6volt batt's.

We will not be doing any hardcore camping, for it is my girlfriends first time camping. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of the small Dorcy lanterns. Also, I would like to keep it under $20.00 and would hope that I could use AA batt's. Hope it is possible.

I will be Taking my Surefire G2, Mini-Mag, Inova pocket led, and Mag3D.

Thank's guys!

I have the 4D Dorcy clone from Walmart (ozark brand). It has a rubber base and tent hook built into the handle. Nice light for $5. I had an extra Mag xenon 4D bulb ($2.50 at zbattery.com) that provided a cheap boost in output.

My local Kmart carries the Dorcy branded 4D and 4AA along with some interesting Florescent clones under the northwest brand in the sporting goods dept.

I also like the Rayovac 4D sportsman (remote) lantern with 9 watts of Florescent light. It included a tree/tent hook.

I would kinda lean toward a 4AA Energizer trailblazer for about $15 bucks (Energizer batteries included) from Target or Walmart.
It has a really bright microflouro that seems to go 8 hours on 2000mah nimhs, and a smaller and far longer running led spotlight in it's head.
Plus it will fit nicely in her purse. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am trying to go with LED, it seems as if my father and I have not had good luck with Flouresent's. Also, LED seems to be the wave of the future and I am trying to stick to just a few types of batt's

Keep em coming guys...
