I like the look of this new bulb design.

Scroll down to the last image on the page showing the caption "No glare LED lamp with more than 270 °luminous angle."

(No, the 230 lumen per watt bulb is not real). The press release is nonsensical and seems to have been lost in translation.

Don't they kind of look like the "corncob" LED bulbs that proliferate fleaBay?

Possibly........the number of LED rows is different, but who knows what's inside.

I would *hope* if it's a legit design that' it's using some high quality SMDs and vented efficiently on the bottom, but again, who knows.

Hey Stephen, take note of how the lenticular diffuser on the bulb projects a horizontal illumination arc on the wall. Side bar, but this is my idea on how to control projection angles with automotive LED's very cheaply. Obviously it works well in this application as well, although for some they may find it looks odd.

Thanks for the explanation. To my eye, I see a vertical pattern - which did not make sense given the horizontal banded layout of the LEDs. I thought the pattern was just an artifact of the photo itself.

Now that you mention it - they do - kind of.
I just liked the high tech look of the bulb but when I showed it to a friend of mine - he said it looked like a bamboo mat. Go figure.

It's...one of those things were the light source itself bears some aethestic subjectivity, but there's no issue with the projection. Lenticular acrylic like this is very, very efficient in terms of transmission.
