Found at www.shoplifestyle.com :
4" long 6-LED aluminum mini-flashlghts-that come with either Blue or White LEDs.
Have on/off switches and are waterproof. (#s A1877 & A1888) http://community.webtv.net/dougfromca/DougsThings

p.s.-I also noticed they are closing out the floatable yellow Eternalight at $29.95

It looks like they are reducing a couple hundred items. There is a 3 led 1 lithium flashlight reduced to 29 bucks also.

Their search engine is not quite as robust as most...
To find the Eternalight, search on "Eternalight"

"Lithium" will find the other flashlight.
"Flashlilght" will find a group of another along with baygen etc
"LED flashlight" will coax out another group

Also, I wonder how they define "reduction". If you search their site with the keyword "flashlight" you will see the Inova microlight, which is commonly avail on the web for $10 or even sometimes less. They have it listed for $17.99 which is "reduced" by 20%! I wonder if they cater to "upscale" clients who don't care about bargains. Just an observation, not a complaint as I have purchased a "closeout" from them before which happened to BE a bargain. Just gotta know your prices, that's my point.

Regards,
Ed

That light did not have a $ "reduction" tag beside it so it was not one of the reduced items......however,

I think you are correct that they charge a "Full Retail" price for the privilege of having "new products" on most everything in the catalog. If you are on the Sharper Image type mailing list, you get this catalog routinely as well as Harringtons, Hammacher's etc etc so, like you said, their reduced price is what you could normally get by shopping around. The Eternalight is the lowest I have found, however.

You can get the Ergo 3 Marine at the above site, or you can get the ErgoXRay for $34.95 at Hosfelt Electronics.

I'm trying to figure out which I want, and which to get for one of my flashlight-junkie buddies. (Actually, I'll be buying it for his wife, who will give it to him as either a Christmas or birthday gift.) Any recommendations? Basically, the only differences are:

Ergo 3 Marine

- Opaque marine-yellow case
- Lithium AA batteries instead of alkaline

Ergo 3 X-Ray

- Translucent case
- Always-on internal LED
- Alkaline batteries[/list]

Note: Either price is acceptable for that model, so don't bother pointing out the obvious price advantage of the Ergo 3 Marine's lithium AA batteries. I'm interested in the light itself. Quick help would be appreciated (as always), even though I may not be able to check back (other than this afternoon) for a couple of days.

Yes, about 2 months ago. Eternalight finally started letting other distributors sell their lights, and the price droped by almost half; more with 'specials' like the Ergo Marine, as noted.

the $30 marine vs the $35 X-ray, I'd have to choose the marine. So it comes with lithium batteries, doesn't mean you have to use lithiums. You can use alkalines (AFAIK) just fine, it just won't float. I wouldn't have to worry about that any way. I may have to get one of those. Then again, I don't have a spare $38 or so ($30 plus s/h). If I do end up getting one, I think I'd just take out the lithium batts, add regulars, then save the lithiums for something else. Not sure what, but something. Maybe for the CD player in extremely cold weather when normal batts don't work too well in the car. I dunno.

The xray is by far the better light - it is amazing how handy the always on blue light is in night to night uses. I have used it as a hanging night light in a tent and it is just the right brightness. I keep it near the nightstand and the blinking blue light is always easy to find. I thought that the original price was reasonable for the xray. For $35, I think that it is a steal.

Just an FYI-
Lifestyle's search engine works a heckava lot better by using those item #s.

Hi Cyclops, well all I can do is give tell you what I would do...I would get the X-Ray if the price was about the same...a night light is always nice...might even light the pot enough that your freind could see with out turning on the bath light and waking his wife. And he could alway use lithiums later if he wanted.

Boy, the price sure has dropped. Weren`t these things selling for around $80 not to long ago?

Well, I've heard back from the mfr. after several days, and these new lights at shoplifestyle.com are powered by three "N" batteries. Sigh. Another good looking light with not so easy to find batteries. And not that cheap either, at RadioShaft, they want $3 for two batteries. That's $4.50 a change. Not to practical in my book, but I suppose it keeps the size of the light manageable.

Ed
