New light from Gerber

It looks like Gerber is coming out with some new lights for 2007 http://www.gerbergear.com/browse.php?all=245 I didn't see anything I had to have but you might. They do have a CR2 light I found interesting. All the Gerber lights I have are well made if not very bright. Hope this is not old news enjoy. I like this one even if he doesn't fit here.

I bought the Gerber Cornea today at REI to see if it would be a good choice as a utility light for my girlfriend. The specs on the packaging say:

18 lumens
water resistant
2AA batts
.7 watt Nichia Rigel led
Beam is adjustable from 83 to 230 feet.

Specs from the REI store computer said that it's regulated to about 7 hours. That was a main point in my purchase.

I've been playing with it and the beam is still mostly a spot with minimal spill beam. It does throw pretty well with a shift toward blue but not objectionable. The tail cap has a very sensitive tactical switch. I'm not sure how rugged the switch is. Definitely less pressure needed than my Inovas. I wasn't looking for a "blaster"-type light, just moderate illumination.

So far it seems like it may fit the bill. The "main squeeze" doesn't abuse lights so it probably will work for her.

I was looking at that at REI today, the packaging says 30. I don't know whats up with the web site.

EDIT: jsut wanted to add that the tempo was only $10, I should have grabed one.

Is that right ? -- 4 lumens for 4 hours off 1xAAA battery. Seems a bit low for a new light.

I thought the fenix e0 (similar light) gave 11 hours at 5.5 lumens off 1xAAA battery.

I assume AAA Tempo is the same thing as the Gerber/CMG Sonic. In their catalog, the 4 hr runtime is to 40% output. It will still run for hours after that similar to the Fenix E0.

This is a funky little light.
