First off I am not worried about Microsoft taking over the world. Wal-Mart will accomplish it long before Microsoft can.

That said...

I just got back from the grand opening of a brand spankin new Wal-Mart supercenter. I saw a new light...it is called the "Cyclopse LED/Kripton headlight"

It is a small headlight, very similar in appearence to the Rayovac Sportsman with the red LED. It has the kripton headlamp part on top with a orangepeel reflector. Below that are 3 white LEDs. They claim about 2 hours incandesent, 20 hour LED. There are 2 buttons on the top of the light--one selects LEDs, one selects Kripton. I don't know if you can have both on at once or not.

Comes in 2 varaities. There is the plain black version with all the other flashlights on "Flashlight wall" as I will call it from now on, and then on an asile no more than 100 feet away is the same light only in slightly different packaging with a camo headstrap.

Looked interesting! Anyone else seen it before? Wouldn't surprise me if it was made by the Rayovac sportsman people...looks almost identical!

I was in Wal-Mart this evening and noticed them too. I noticed some on the "wall" and some about 15 feet down the aisle, across the aisle. I didn't pay attention to any differences between them, just thought the others were overstock.

It does look like a pretty good light.

It was the grand opening...I'm not closterphobic but we're talking a grand opening of Super Wal-Mart proportions here...about the only 2 places in the store one could have more than 2 feet of personal space was the flashlight asile and the bottled water asile--I had plenty of time to examine

Cost: 18.66 I think, or was it 16.88? Between $16 and $20...

Saaby...I bought that same light a while back, and all I can say is DON'T waste your money! The 3 white LED's are very dim. In fact, I replaced the krypton bulb with a single white LED from Radio Shack, and the single RS LED puts out more light than the 3 stock LED's on the headlamp! With incandescent, the beam of the headlamp is VERY splotchy in spite of the faceting on the reflector...a Nexstar bulb made it quite a bit brighter, but did nothing for the beam quality. This particular light is, IMHO, a waste of money. For about 6 bucks less, I should've gone with the Rayovac headlamp...

...one more thing: the incan and the LED's cannot be turned on at the same time. When one is turned on the other one shuts off...FYI

I posted a little "mini-review" here on them when they first came out at my Wal-Mart about 4 months ago.

Ditto on they suck. I don't think that the LEDS are even Nichias - they may be the Marktech/optoelectronics whites.... I can't check, because I gave away the one I bought.

And the incandescent bulb is pretty sorry too.

Better off duct taping a MiniMag and an ARC AAA to your head.

Yep. it sucks I'll sell mine for $10.
The switching mechanism is better than that other similar light though. You don't have to cycle through all the modes.
Also the camo strap is too tight for my head.

I like the light. The LED output is equivalent to the PT Attitude (which also has 3 LEDs).

See this thread which I started on the subject a couple weeks back.

There are definitely better headlights out there, but at $19 I thought it was a decent value.
