Bezel ring is glued on to the head, cannot remove stock reflector by hand. Mini Mag is from Wal-Mart and is black.

Are you certain it is glued on? Can you see the adhesive? Try using a hair dryer to heat up the bezel. It may soften things up enough where you can disassemble it with a pair of gloves.

wow, are you sure?

i suppose it's possible that they would put some loctite on it, but i dont' see why they would /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

maybe they're not satisfied with being stagnant in innovation, maybe they want to move backwards by not allowing us to mod them as easily? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

If they glued it, it was probably to save the cost of threading it.

I just purchased a purple one from Home Depot and the bezel ring was a real bear to get off. Had to use a strap wrench! Examination of the threads didn't reveal any residue of glue and/or loctite. Just really tight I guess?

was it hard to remove all the way through the threads, or did it become easier as soon as you initially broke the seal?

Mine was easy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Pewter from walmart, if it matters.

I've had 3 out of 40 that were tight. They are just very tight and once you move the bezel it will come right off.

Ok, I am off to Sears to buy a strap wrench. I don't see glue it just seems like it is glued (Loktite) on.

Oh you guys are so nice to your minimags. Strap wrench? I'd just use a vise-grip. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mine seemed easier after the seal was initially broke...

Could have been worse. I thought you were going to 'fess up to having too much Egg Nog and you were turning it in the wrong direction. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Well, it was a good excuse to add a strap wrench to your toolbox! Always nice to have it, if you need it!

What kind of strap wrench did you buy?

I've been thinking of getting one to help open
up an Arc LS that I'd like to mod.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

home depot and sears hardware both have the smaller strap wrenches handy around lights, they have some combos and individual strap wrenches available
