New project challenge!

The ZLT was a great group effort, and I use it on 2AA mods as well as 2D mods. But, times have changed! Now we have the Luxeon III that will take 1A. I find the ZLT, even with modified inductor, maxes out at about 550mA and starts to smoke. How about a group project to light a Lux III at 1A using 2 NiMH or Alkaline cells? Thanks to a fellow CPF'er I'll be testing the LT1618 for a boost/current regulator. Anyone interested?

Sounds interesting. I'll have to take a look at the
LT1618 chip. I guess that's the chip you plan on using
then?
