Which one are you getting? Or both?

I have a good AA light (D10), but have the batteries, so I lean that way....

But then I think it would be fun to have the 123 for the brightness.

Hmmmm.

i love single cell lights and i prefer AA because the batteries are so common and easy to find.

right now there's a bunch of us who prefer neutral tints that are looking to get some neutral white mini AAs made available (see my sig line if you're interested).

i really do like the size of the 123 mini though. i'd get one of those if they were available in neutral too.

overall, i prefer the AA; so if i had to choose one or the other, it'd be the AA mini.

I took both, as burntoshine explained, each one has its advantages.

If I had to choose : 123! The size & the brightness make it.

If you have no other light and want to heavily use it : AA! Powered with a NiMh you'll have it bright enough and free Lumens.

Get both... :poke:

Personally I ordered both. Love the brightness of the 123 and the AA is smaller than the EZAA with the Preon UI. First time for both a single 123 and AA for me and these hit my needs perfectly. Both are just about the same in volume as well (the mini 123 and AA that is).

I am planning on ordering both. They are not terribly expensive so its not hard on the pocket book. I have many lights that cost more than both.

Ordered the 123 because of size and brightness. I have plenty of AA, 2AA lights now and want something small and bright. I do have the EZcr2, but the MiNi 123 is slightly shorter although wider. The 123 batteries aren't that hard to find, especially over the internet. RCR 123 are slightly harder to find, but I have some of those already, and you can get them with protection built in too.

My approach would be to cover many different types of lights. On this board, it sounds as if people will get 10 of the same basic light with the same batteries. That seems rather redundant to me. Besides, in another year there will be plenty of newer better toys out there to purchase.

In true CPF fashion I have ordered both. Origianlly I was not going to buy either because I needed the money elsewhere and I even sold one of my high end lights to raise some funds but things have since changed.

I have almost no SF123/CR123 cells and all of my flashlights that do will be converted or have been converted to Li-Ion so it's not something that I hope to support. For that reason I am waiting for a MiNi AA. On top of the battery versatility that has been touched upon by others here, there is the option of Lithium AA batteries (L91?) as well as 14500s. With 14500s you will have the same brightness of a MiNi 123 but with less run time. I hope to buy some Lithium AA batteries to put away for "The Big One" (earthquake country) as well as a protected 14500 or two for some serious lumens when needed. I already have tons of alkaline batteries (Wii remotes leave about 1.25 volts on the cells but are considered dead by the console) as well as NiMH cells so I'm set.

I already have a AZAA so the 123 version has more appeal to me. If they came out with a warm version I'd most likely buy one.

At first I thought I will definitely get the MiNi 123, but I decided to go with AA MiNi. For the following reasons.

1) takes AA alkalines
2) takes rechargeable (nimh)
3) takes lithium
4) takes li-ion (making it almost as bright as MiNi 123)
5) slight longer so it's easier to hold
6) easy to give as a gift to anyone if I decided to get another light in the future. (I know I will)

I will be getting both. I want the 123 because it should be the brightest single cell light I own (not counting my M30) And I miss my Ra Twisty so I figured id get the 47 Twisty. And I want the AA because I own -0- AA lights  Its amazing. I cant even find any of my old AA M@g's. I do have upwards of 20x123 lights! Plus I can get hundreds of 1.35+v AA's from my moms school for free since they just toss em out.

I ordered the 123, I only have one other single 123 light, and it is not even close to this small of size!

Best, CREEper

I preordered the Quark MiNi AA. I like the AA format and have a good supply of AA Sanyo Eneloops.

Pre Ordered the 123 as I already have a few AA lights. Do not have any 123 lights nor any twisties. Plus I would like to be able to confirm how bright my existing lights are as I have not been able to determine the OTF values of them.

Might get the AA in a few days anyway and will give away the DX lights I have for these instead

I'd get both, but will only get one if in neutral tint. So i'm on the AA neutral list! I'll get the CR123 if it is ever availabkle in neutral.

As an aside, I notice the 4sevens site has something called a regular tail which looks like a clicky. Is it possible to add clicky functionality to the new mini's at the expense of increasing the length?

I have no experience of a twisty so please excuse me if this is not possible and is well known amongst the regulars
