Just ordered a new Quark 123² Tactical:whistle:. I can't wait for it to get here. I just wanted to ask what batteries you guys recommend to use in it, and what you use in yours. Thanks

I'm currently using the 4Sevens batteries in mine, although I have some Titanium Innovations double sticks on the way to try out. Both of these are manufactured in China. Reports from the batteries forum say there's only one manufacturer in the US, which means the USA-made batteries should be pretty consistent regardless of brand. You can get a good deal on the Battery Station ones via the CPF Specials thread.

Poke around the batteries forum and you'll get more recommendations and safety warnings, along with reports of testing and failures.

Thanks for all the info that really helped!

I use an AW brand 17670 in mine. It is a rechargeable battery and provides similar runtime (I think) to two primary 123's.

Besides that, I use whatever USA-made brand I can get cheapest at the time from Lighthound.com, 4sevens brand batteries, or Surefire batteries if I'm buying something else from a favored Surefire dealer.

Edit: Congrats on the good buy. I have this exact model and I carry the damn thing near all the time, ignoring a lot of more expensive lights in my collection. It's just that good.

Before buying my 123^2 WW Turbo, I had the same questions. I spent hours researching the possibilities and recommendations. A pattern emerged and I bought a decent charger and AW 17670s. I already had an adequate DMM. I studied all the "scary" stuff about charging these batteries and practiced what was preached.

If I've incorrectly assumed you don't have experience charging Li-Ion, please accept my apologies and disregard the second link. If you don't have experience; by following the advice given it really is easy and safe. Guilt free lumens - what a concept!

Bottom line: I'm extremely satisfied with my decision in using these cells and recommend you take advantage of my legwork!

:welcome:

great light, i had one and it served me extremely well for months! even bought a second when the neutral tint XP-Gs came out.

I used mine daily for work so it was either 2x rcr123, or 1x 17670 for me. I perfer the latter.
