The limited edition titanium titan was a disaster with all the problems they had with it. Flickering, poor workmanship, gritty feeling when turning the twisty switch.

Makes me really wonder it the aluminum titan is going to be a quality product if surefire actually releases it?

At $240 I am too much of a chicken to be a guinea pig on this one.

I also wonder if surefire was willing to refund the $500 purchase price for the titanium titan to people that were frustrated after spending so much money for a light that did not perform well or reliably?

I was sad at first for missing out on the titanium version. A month later I was thrilled I never purchased that light.

Let me start by saying that my Titan is my favorite light I have. I don't recall reading about poor workmanship with these but there's none evident on mine. The grittiness reported smoothed out and I now kind of miss it, as it had more of a potentiometer feeling to it than the grittiness of my LoTi.

If they were making the aluminum one in the same size form using CR2's then I'd get one immediately.

The impression I had was that some Titans had grittiness that wore off with use (I think that is common with ti lights) and some had electrical problems which Surefire was able to fix. Basically it had some early adopter issues that were satisfactorily dealt with. Operational problems aside, the light got a somewhat mixed reception by users. Some decided the light wasn't for them and sold theirs, but for others, it became an always-carried favorite.

I'm in the group of users who always has mine on me. I was nervous after reading of all the problems but the desire for a real low-low forced my hand and it's one of the best light purchases I've made, and the only one that goes low enough.
