Hello everyone. I'm Chromatophile, and I'm a 17 year old hobbyist. I've been interested in LEDs for several years, but only recently have I become seriously into them. I don't even have an LED flashlight yet!

I hope that by joining CPF, I can learn more about these wonderful little things (and also be in the company of other enthusiasts). I will soon start bombarding everyone with questions.

Welcome to CPF Chromatophile.

Allot of us here have and recommend the tiny ARC AAA. It is an excellent light.

Have fun.

The manufactured lights are great. But the most fun comes from building your own.

Welcome to CPF!
Check out the "Modified Lights" forum on this board!
Great torchware, handbuilt by torchaholics!
Once you build one, you cannot stop... you raid your local hardware store of all its torches and start ripping those crummy filament bulbs and replacing them with something solid state...a single 5mm LED, multiple 5mm LED's, a huge array of 5 mm LED's or a Luxeon.
Other than the Luxeons, which can be quite pricey, LED's are becoming cheaper and offering more and more mcd for your £ or $.
a luxeon though will give you maximum mcd per £ from one component!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">So does a great deal of hair pulling, finger burning, accidental fumes inhalation and exploding LEDs. But don't let that put you off.

Yep, guys, it's definitely too late. Fortunately, however, my budget is small enough to prevent me from spending huge amounts of money (though I wish I could

). I'm heading to the flashlight forum right now to propose a mod I thought up. See you there.
