New to lasers, looking for powerful one....

I recently got a cheapo red laser pointer to terrorize my cats and now I've been bitten by the laser bug. I want a nice powerful green laser! I am aware of the safety issues regarding them, in fact I just completed a Laser Safety course at work because we now use powerful laser to etch designs in glassware. What is the most powerful one I can get my hands on? I'm looking for one where the beam is REALLY visible. Thanks for any help.

Please tell us you won't shine lasers in the eyes of animals or allow them to chase bright laser dots which will damage their eyes from the intense reflections.........
