new to site looking for some starter info

Hi im new to light modification and would like to make some lights of my own not to save money but just to get lights that fit what i am looking for. i cant find a light that really fits what i want. i dive some areas that have low vis and look in some dark holes spearfishing. i would like to modify a non canister light something the size of a ikelite pc light or anything of comprable size to have a higher output. i have read a little about taking the internal components and changing them but i just need some advice on what to use etc. what kind of setup is best for silty mercy water?

For murky water you need tight focus which you can achieve with the right combination of LED and Aspheric or Bulb and Reflector.

1. Choosing the right solution requires other considerations
   How bright?
   Brightness is relative... can you state it in Lumens or compare it to a Maglite?
2. How far do you need the light to Travel? 1inch or 1mile?
3. What duration of battery life do you want.

this isn't a definitive list by any means.

Fix focused fairly tight beams already rexist for diving in your form factor: See Packhorse's and MBSub's light in this forum.
