Just got some new Trustfire 18650's and 14500's, the ones with the flames on the wrapper.

Had the trustfire 801 for a few months but stopped using due to inconsistent contact/powering problems. These new 18650's are slightly longer than my grey Trustfires, and seem to have done away with the problem, although they are a real tight fit in the UF-139 charger.

On the flip side I got some of the 14500's and they are smaller than the blue trustfires, even smaller than AA, so I threw 1 in the Ultrafire C3 SS($14 model) and I can now thread the tailcap perfectly on the body, and dont have to use the alkalines anymore.

Hope this helps, keep in mind the size of these 2 batteries may cause issues in other lights, but it solved my problem with these 2 models

Just to confirm, the 14500 are protected?

Used the blue unprotected ones for some time now without size problems, but previously the protected ones were a problem.

Both 18650's and 14500's are protected.

I was never able to screw tailcap down on the C3 ss all the way with the blue trustfire protected, these are the perfect size for that light, but are too short for the uniquefire s10 that I got with these batteries.
