New two flashlights

Lost power due to Sandy. Have a few flashlights that take the 123A, I had a pack of the batteries too. The batteries say so long non of them where any good. So what I'm looking for is a house flashlight that is rechargeable or a light and charger combo. Would like it to be one of them chargers that I can just leave on all the time till I'm ready to use it. Looking at amazon I see a 3D maglight has a long run time, would that with rechargeable batteries be good? What charger and batteries should I get if I go with that?


Also Id like something thats really bright that can run for a while, also rechargeable. Like something I can search around my house or neighborhood. Very willing to buy another light but if this light can fit the need of the first light then one light would work. Would need it belt mountable as well.

D-cell chargers are kinda rare


A fenix LD22 and a $20 walmart charger would suit most people needs.

As much as It takes to get what I need. The fenix LD22 looks like it be okay for the house i need something better for when Im looking around the block or driving around.

I would second the LD22. I have one in my kitchen drawer and it works great. Go for Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries when you can get them. You also might be pleased at how well it will work when you are walking around.

Are you sure your CR123a are bad? I had a bad bulb in a light and was confused why all the batteries were dead....:thinking:

They they are all dead, the light would shine dim for a moment or two then go out. Looking for something bigger then the LD22

TK41, uses x8 AA. I have rechargeable eneloops for mine.

I did just see the LD41, that looks like it be great for the house, takes AA two, can anyone point me to a changer and quality batteries for it? Something I can live charging until i need it?



Also still thinking about a rechargeable mag light for the truck and putting one of them LED kits in it, any one have anything to say about that?

Fenix also has a rechargeable light, the RC10, and it has a car charging adapter. Olight's S80 and Klarus's RS11 are also rechargeable lights.

What are you current lights? I've had a pack of CR123s for a few years now and they still seem fine (tested the voltage recently).

+1 for eneloops. -1 one for your plan of leaving batteries on the charger till needed. Thats a good way to kill batteries. When the batts are done charging take them off the charger and put them in a case marked "charged"

Also, -1 for the LD22. If you need to use Alkaline (not recommended) or Lithium in the LD20/22 you lose low and med modes. If you want a 2x AA light look at FourSevens. You'll have more battery option with the Quarks

Batteryjunction has a good selection of batteries and chargers as well as lighthound. Your local stores may also carry them as well as "white top" Duracells which are rebranded Eneloops. I just picked up 4 of the Rayovac 2xAA's to keep around the house. or $15 they are a steal and you can keep one in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc.

Fenix, foursevens, jetbeam, zebralight and thrunight all make quality lights. Yoy wil be happy with any of them to begin with. Pick one you think you will like and then get something different with a different interface to see what you prefer.

Current light is a older Fenix that takes 2 123 cells. I liked it even though I needed a bit brighter for out and about stuff. Right now I'm just about sold on the LD41 or TK41 and a set of rechargeable cells. Still would like an idea on what charger to get.


The light for the car I would like to flood a field and have the ablity to run off the cigerate lighter port and battery.

How old were those 123A?

Most of those have long shelf lives? Heck, I'm using AAs and AAAs that are at least 7-8 years old and they still work fine.

I really have to wonder if it's not the batteries, and your flashlight died.
