Yep, long time reader but first new thread.
I have always had an addiction for flashlights which was until recently satisfied by local store bought flashlights... well they are just not good enough or bright enough for me anymore...
I am sure I am stepping out on a slippery slope that ya'll are already on.

My first EDC that I picked up was a Nitecore Extreme special edition. Really love that light... everything but the clip (it is a cheap little thing that keeps bending on me).

My recent purchase was the Solarforce L1200 for $90. Yeah I know I wanted to go for something better but I have 2 little ones at home with another on the way. I have to watch the budget closely.

The Solarforce is a nice light. Way! brighter than anything else I own and seems pretty well put together. It has a pretty floody beam but still throws surprizingly far. I hate that it takes 3 18650's and only came with a cheap dual cell charger... I have to remedy that soon. So far I really like this light especially considering the price.

For those of you that have the L1200... mine came with the premium solarforce protected 18650's and I am wondering what maH these are? I am thinking of picking up some better cells when I get a new charger.

Also... After many searches on CPF I cannot find any mention of how long I should expect the bulb to last. I know it is cheap stuff but the bulb is $25 so I was hesitant to get this light in the first place. Anyone with any guesses as to how long bulb will last and are there alternative bulbs available?

Thanks,
Matt

Anyone notice the change they made to the L1200? If one goes to the HK site of the company, it looks like they put a heat sink where there was a large lugnut looking piece. Sort of looks like the sink on the L950m. Heat buildup problems? Also the head looks deeper as well with a different bezel. Perhaps I was under a rock for the last few months but I like the new design look.

Hey does that head fit on normal Surefire C size threads?

There is a new version. Has anyone reviewed the new L1200 Premium, I could not find a review. I'm looking at it for a decent, well-priced thrower and anti-fog piece. Not sure how much I'd be tailstanding a 3 x 18650 light, but it's part of the new design along with other things.

Nice choice of light, 376matt. I've had mine for several months and have had the same bulb the entire time, even with numerous charges. I've heard different reviews about this light and still had to get one despite the bad reviews. I can't understand why, I've had nothing but good luck from it so far, as it always turns on when I need it to.

I recently posted a beamshot comparison that included this light at:

But to answer another question: The bulb was sold at Lighthound for a while, but I don't know if it still is.

Hope this helps!
