Help Support Candle Power:

I put in my vote for one of my dog walking lights;
Surefire 9P clone (takes 2 18650 rechargeables)
Tailcap modified with AW softstart 3 level "clicky" (sort of)
Stainless steel bezel from lighthound (okay - this is actually on my 3 x 18650 Leef body)
FM drop in with 1794 bulb.

Not really a pocket light - but I cannot see much "defense" with a pocket light.

Getting further away from going in the pocket there are alot of nice MAG mods out there - I've got some with the X-cap (spelled wrong) on them, along with a stainless steel ring on the end of the bezel.

I would highly recommend looking on the Marketplace B/S/T and the custom B/S/T. Try it, sell it if you don't like it. The custom B/S/T is wild - you will see ALL sorts of stuff there.

My $0.02 worth.

This is my first post to CPF and I just wanted to say hi.:grin2: I am definitely a newbie to lights as my interest was recently flared when my girlfriend gave me a Pila GL4 as a gift. I've since bought a Fenix P2D Q5 for her purse; to return the favor of course. Now I find myself wanting to browse and compare specs amongst various lights. I have found flashlightz, brightguy, and a couple of other smaller tactical/law enforcement sites, but I was wondering if there were any other dedicated sites? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and take it easy!

www.4sevens.com is great, has one of the best customer service rep around here.

I like www.thephotonshop.co.uk for my fenix needs :P

www.surefire.com Aint gonna tell anything about them, but they are good.

And also the main flashlight site like www.nitecore.co.uk , www.fenix-store.com , a wolf eyes site (can google al these) those are good sites that I know. It's late, so I know more but can't remember atm.

I hope to learn from this thread also. I'm a bit confused though. Are you looking for a light to be used while ccw'ing or for those times when you can't ?

For a light that you'll always have on you, and you want primarily for SD purposes, how big can you tolerate, how long do you want it to run on a set of batteries, and how simple do you want the operation to be. Runtime isn't very important in encounters, since it will only be on for a few minutes at most. If you use it for utility as well as SD then you may want to consider a longer running but somewhat dimmer light, a multimode light, or perhaps a second light like a fenix LOD you can keep on the keychain. I subscribe to the brighter is better school of thought, and I can also get away with EDC'ing a surefire C2 w/malkoff dropin, which some may consider too large due to its bezel size. This is my pick, but your particular needs will determine what light you end up with.

I would also take a look at the Jetbeam Jet III Military, a couple of 18650's and a charger. I love mine.
