I couldnt find anything on these Mini Mags 2AA LED's I saw at Academy today, I didnt know they made one with a multifunction head on it.. (High, Low, Slow Flash, Fast Flash) Has anyone messed with these and any comments on them?

I bought a Mini Mag 3AA LED awhile back and it doesnt have that multifuntion on it. I cant even find a website that talks about these, I couldnt even find the multifuction part on the Mag Website..

I just picked one up the other day at my local Gander Mountain. Not a bad light, nice to Mag using a multi-mode interface finally. It's much like the older model LED light, except it has a rebel LED which is a little brighter, has nice tint, and has the low mode along with the other two "useless" modes.

I picked one up for another beater. I grabbed a pair of lithium AA's to throw in it as well. I figured they would be best since the light will pretty much just sit around unused for the most part.

Thanks guys for the replies, I did try the search but came up with older mini mag threads. I did however find that specific thread you brought up just by going through the site manually.

I just picked one up also these are pretty neat, I dont have a really nice EDC light so mini mag is as far as I know in lights. Im trying to find one that fits into my Nite Ize Pock Its, but it seems that it has to be the size of the mini mag to fit right. So the search is still on, however my budget is no more than 30 bux for a light that takes standard AA's so I dont know what else there is. Ill just fiddle around the site and maybe Ill find something.

BTW this is my first anything (thread, reply) on this site. So Im a newbie.

I too am interested in this light. They haven't come to my area yet. Someday soon I hope. Let us know how you like it.

I looked in Dekalb, Rockford, and Belvidere, and no luck this weekend.

I think someone on another thread said they saw it at Sears. I checked Brightguy.com and Amazon and they don't have it. I wonder why it isn't available online yet.

Someone told me that the new rebel minimag can out throw a surefire g2l.

Are you guys finding this with your light.

I don't think mine that I just bought would out-throw a Surefire P60L on fresh cells. If the batteries were in exhausted in the G2L, then maybe the mini-mag would win ;)

Honestly though, the new mini-mag has pretty decent output. I'd say 40-45 lumens out the front on high.

EDIT: Now that I am thinking about it, maybe the person referring to the Mag rebel out-throwing the G2L was talking about the 2D, or 3D version.

I've outfitted all my 2xAA maglights with various LED options and the Nite Ize IQ (rear) switch (High, Med, low, slow strobe, faster strobe) and am quite happy with all of them.

The only thing I don't know is if the IQ switch is compatible with the TerraLUX Ministar2 extreme. Thats going to be my next question for Terralux.

I had a IQ with a Terralux Extreme drop in, it worked, but like with all other drop ins the IQ diminishes the output. Even with the terralux extreme side by side with my 2AA LED Mini Mag, the Mini mag wins. I abandoned my mini mag drop ins once I found this mini mag led.

For people looking it was my local Academy store. I have no idea why the multifunction info is not online or even on the mag website.. Its like they dont exist other than in some stores.

Hi:

The multimode Minimag compared to the G2L does not appear as bright. If anything, the high mode in the minimag seems closer the output of a E2DL low settings.

I do like the multimode minimag though. Bright enough for close range stuff like working on the back of computers and crawling under desks. Plus, it will be the first light I would loan out to friends while I hold onto the SF E2DL and Nitecore Extreme SS.

Loaded the minimag with enerloops for guilt free lumens too.

What version of the terralux extreme do you have? I have the cree and it is comparable to other lights putting out 80 lumens. So by your comparison the new minimag has to be making more than 40 lumens.

Fry's Electronics in Downers Grove, IL had the new multimode Mini MagLED lights in stock this past weekend.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to check out other places until this weekend. But maybe by then they will be more widely available.
