Re: Ni MH batteries- Duracell/Energizer or Panaso
I find that there are only a few bad NiMH manufacturers out there (commercially available anyway). The ones you find at your local store (Target, Walmart..) are all pretty good. Rayovac, Energizer, Duracell are pretty much the same in my experience...even when you compare them to Maha, Sanyo and other branded "better" batteries.
The ones i do steer clear from are Lenmar, GP, and Nexcell. First off...there is a reason why they are so cheap. I can get 10 Lenmar AA's at Fry's for 10 dollars. Nexcell, and GP are equally as cheap. Some will argue that they've had good experiences with this...but i've heard more bad things about these batteries than any other manufacturers.
Also, i look at the track history of other manufacturers and see how they publish their capacity numbers. Some manufacturers overstate there capacity by over 200-1000mAh. Maha, Sanyo, Energizer, and Jetcell are ones that i have seen that don't overstate their claims. If it is listed as 2200mAh then it is somewhere close.
With any batter, just make sure you charge them properly, and if you insist on fast charging them all the time, use a fan. I've pretty much killed my Maha 1600 mAh batteries after 2 years by charging them ONLY in Rapid mode...even in a Maha CHarger they get really hot. Here in San Diego in the Summer, it can get 80 degrees indoors...couple that with rapid charging and hot batteries...even the best batteries will give up over time.
