NiMH batteries in my Streamlight SL-35x and SL-20x

Just ordered and installed a 10,000mah 6v NiMH Batter for my Streamlight SL-35x which had a bad battery and was overheating.

I noticed that my SL-20x is not holding a great charge either, so I am about to order a NiMH replacement for that as well.

These lights came with NiCd batteries new. Are there any differences to charging/care with the new type batteries, or just swap and use as normal.

I usually leave both lights in the original charging sleeves when not in use. I believe these are trickle or slow chargers.

Thanks!

Hello Opie-IN,

Welcome to CPF.

The only problem would be leaving the light on the charger for extended periods of time. NiCd batteries are more tolerant of continual trickle charging than NiMh batteries are.

Charge it up and take it off the charger for maximum life.

If you don't use the light for a couple of months, just pop it back on the charger to top it off.
