Nite Ize or TerraLux SMJLED substitutes?

Actually Nite Ize has a newish 30 lumen dropin that uses an LED that looks kind of similar to the SMJLED. http://www.batteryjunction.com/niteize-lrb2-07.html

Cheap enough that I probably wont care about the runtime. Is it a battery vampire? (can you try feeding it dead AAs if you have any lying around?)

Hang around CPFMP too much. Every time there is a sale on Eneloops/Dutaloops I know about it.

I tried 1 NiMH and 1 battery spacer. It still lights up but dimmer. So it will still works at 1.2V.

Never tried NiteIze but I like Terralux's quality. Been using the SMJLED but I wish they'd release a new brighter one.
