My NitecoreD20 is one of my all time favorite lights. I love the feel, power and that pleasant smooth piston drive! Naturally after such a pleasant experience I sought out the smaller single cell version, the D10.
4 Sevens, as always, was helpful in sending me a clip for the D10.

I immediately noticed the piston drive on the D10 was not as smooth as the D20. Nonetheless I a found home for it in the bathroom as a reading light:sssh:. Using a 14500 cell made this light very appealing to me.
This morning I had to switch the cell. A piece of the LE came off, a 1/4 cm flat round piece. without it the light would not work. placing it back made the light work on twisty only. The piston is locked up when the light is on. No more settings, only high, no more piston operation -only twisty operation now.

I'll check with 4 Sevens for an RMA.

Could you take a picture of the light engine and the part that came off?

I can only imagine that you speak about the main contact, but the light shouldn't light up at all without it? I have no idea how that contact is fixed...

To share, i have had great service from Nitecore, contact them directly using the emails on their website and they will handle your problem. You can check out my post in the Cheers section for more details.

I have a d10 and a d20 and I bought another d20 as a gift. I had early issues with my d10 and the d20 I bought as a gift. And 47's took care of me immediately and I can't say enough how great they were.

And now hearing that my lifetime warranty through 47s isn't really for life and other people having issues...ugh!

However, I love my d10 and it hasn't given me any issues since, but I can't say I'm not concerned.

If you're talking about the small little conductive piece that comes into contact with the positive end of the battery, then the same piece came off of mine. I soldered it back onto the middle of the board and it works like a charm now. I contacted Nitecore as well, and they were helpfull, however I couldn't wait a month to ship my light to China and back.

You'll just have to deal with Nitecore customer service directly. same thing happened to me and 4sevens no longer supported the nitecore that i bought from them. Nitecore CS is fine and responsive, hopefully you won't have any problems dealing with them, if you ever have to.

YES! I placed that part back in place and that's why it works as a twisty but no piston drive. Thanks!!

Good idea, nope never posted a pic:shakehead.
It is that 'contact piece' small/ round. I placed it back and that's when it reganined high power with twisty operation but no more piston drive.

If you have any electronic skills, solder it back in there, otherwise it's just rattling around; else take it out.
