Hatman, I believe your talking to me, lol....really, it is easy once you start, I think the clip is well designed and is very nice once installed..it is easier than it appears!!
 This method definitely works. After one false start, I tried this and it works great. The clip appears to be designed with a slightly larger diameter than the light itself. I think this helps to exert a constant force on the screws once tightened, helping them to stay that way. I'm very happy with the result. Here's what I did: Put the first screw in so that it just grabs on to the tread - don't tighten it. Now try to force the second one in. In this way you have a little bit more play to wiggle and need less force to bend the clip.
Once the second screw caught on, you might want to tighten the screws alternately until both are in at the same time.

Someone made a vid of installing the D10 clip here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKMLaURYGFo
Sorry! Didn't watch the video all the way to the end... Figured she would get it! I have clips on both my EX10 and D10. It was mildly challenging to do, but both went on without problems. I do see why the include extra screws tho, they're really easy to lose!
"Mildy Challenging" is an understatement. This little monster clip can't be installed. I have tried using a mini-vise, pliers, and that awful allen wrench included in the kit. I have nothing to show for it except two sore thumbs, one stripped screw, one screw M.I.A., and a majorly gouged up anodized coating. Damaging my light pissed me off more than anything.
I wish the seller would have installed the clip if it was so easy to install, after all they designed that little bugger.
I can't believe you had this much trouble trying to install the clip. Did you see the previous posts #23, #24 and #25 in this thread.
