Hey guys, my friend is looking for a new light, after seeing my olight M20.

He's looking for an AA 2 cell light, and he's narrowed it down to these two.

What would ya'll recommend? Also what is the difference between the Olight tactical T25, and the civilian one? All I know is that the tactical costs more money.

Thanks guys!

I have a D20 and I really like the UI and feel of it. I do not have a T25 but I do have the M20 and I like it but do not like having to twist the head. Both companies are very good IMHO can't go wrong with either I guess. Ohh and heres the obligatory buy both!! ;)

Up to the top, someone's gotta have both. I've read the reviews on them, but just want to get some of your guys' opinions, thanks!

Hopefully I will have both by the end of the week. I have the T25-t and I really like it, and it throws well for its size. The wire lanyard ring was garbage, and the battery tube is way oversize for AA's, all of mine rattle, but other than that the quality is nice. I tape Alkalines together ahead of time in homemade 2 cell disposable packs for it.

I don't carry it as much as my L2D at work because it does not carry in a belt holster as well. It seems to be frugal on the batteries.

I like 2xaa lights. I have a bunch of them. Seems like 1xaa gets more attention by makers though.

The T25 (regular) has 5 brightness modes and 2 SOS modes (bright and dim). It also has a reverse clicky and the UI works a bit differently. You twist the head to change between brightness levels, and half-press the switch to go from normal into strobe mode. Another half-press to go into SOS mode. Twist the head while in SOS to go to bright SOS.

I think I've got that right, but you get the gist. I much prefer the T25t UI. The tactical version appears to have slighty better runtime too, according to the comparisons on light-reviews.

Alright, well I got my D20 last night and well, after 3 sets of batteries (night shift) and playing with it I can wholeheartedly recommend the T25-t.

I am on the verge of disappointed really, especially since I dearly love the D10.

The huge head sports a badly focused LED, so much so that the hotspot looks more like that of my SF L2 with a MC-E stuffed in it than the usual cree pattern. The T25 completely outclasses the D20 in throw, output, runtime, and overall comfort during use.

I am going to keep trying the D20 and see if I can come around to liking it, but has left me wanting so far. I think I prefer my old and abused L2D to it so far. It is not as bright, but it has a tighter hotspot and a longer runtime on high. They both get warm during use, but it take much longer for the L2D to heat up. The T25 did not seem to get as warm.

I do like the clip and the UI of the D20, but it has the battery bounce "glitch" that people have mentioned. That annoys me. This is my 4th Nitecore light. It is the first one to not impress me out of the box.

It was a toss up between this and another Olight and I shoulda got the m20 I think.

If you plan on using the light outside alot or at any distance then definitely go for the T25, indoors, the floodier beam of the D20 might be more useful. The more "organic" shape of the Olight makes it more comfortable to use for long periods of time, but indoors I think the D20 and its ability to tailstand nicely has an edge over the T25-T with the protruding forward Clicky.

I am at that stage where I don't know if I should be irritated or content. Maybe I am missing something or maybe I can learn to like it.

Both are very nice lights. When pressed to choose either one I would go for the d20 simply because i prefer it's UI. Either way I would definitely buy from 4sevens. Their customer service is great and they are a forum supporter.

Just my 2 cents..........
