I have made some comparison beam shoots with EZAA and some other small flashlights, both AA light and some smaller. First a graph showing the light output from the different lights. This is a log scale, i.e. the brighness change from 0.3 to 3 looks the same as the change from 3 to 30.

Are we talking a first series EZ AA here or a revised specimen?
 
in the first pitcure, its interesting to see that the EzAA looks alot like a slimmer, longer version of the Aeon.

Excellent stuff!

I like flashlights a bunch, but I really liked the area that you did the beamshots in; it made me want to take a nap in the long, soft grass.

I was very surprised to see the similarities between the EZAA and the Aeon in the way that they look, work and are built. I applauded them for licensing the PD from Don, but they kind of when to school on the Aeon and copied it into a AA format:whistle:

Very nice work HKJ! That is a great combination of lights that I wanted to see compared with the EZAA. Looks like the EZAA first level is pretty good and not too low from your shots.

And the location really makes me want to be camping right now. Very cool.

The low is in the same range as the LD01, LD10 and Aeon's low. A very useful low for a two level light.

As expected I would say my neutral/warmer tint version is slightly less that your sample. On Low I've measured the current draw at 240ma.

That was a very high current draw, I only got 113mA with a freshly charged Eneloop. With you current draw it would not last 20 hours on a battery. The reason for you measurement might be the way it draws current.

The beam shoots here are from my danish review of the EZ AA, this review also includes current measurements and a check for pwm.

Ya, I'm recharging the cells right now, because it is high. Could be the internal resistance of the meter affected the circuit too.

The Danish review looks good, with the extra pictures and the waveform.

16Khz Hmmm PWM, is very interesting find. Maybe your just seeing the waveform from the inverter feeding back on the supply lines because they could/did not filter it? Strange.

The measurement is with a light sensor, i.e. the curve is from the light output, not any electric current/voltage inside the flashlight.
It is not pwm, I believe it is unfiltered voltage from the regulation and the current draw from the battery is also unfiltered!

OK Gotcha. So its a 16Khz modulation on the light. Ya sounds like inverter switching frequency.

I expect that the inverter is running at a much higher frequency than that and it is only the regulation we see, i.e. it will probably change with battery voltage (But I have not checked that).

I have both the Aeon and the EZAA and I hadn't realized how similar they are! Very interesting...

If I had to choose, I'd pick the EZAA--I like the beam so much more and with the AA it is such a nice light!

You know, comments like that makes me try extra hard, I want to live up to that. Anyway, these beam shoots are in perfect alignment, not like the last bunch. Just because somebody complained (and I agreed).

I believe that some people did realize it and did not like it: Enrique and I understand him.

If I had to choose, I'd pick the EZAA--I like the beam so much more and with the AA it is such a nice light!

It is a nice light, but I am not very surprised about it, the model was a very good light and with a never led and AA battery it has to be nice. If it is as good and as reliable as the original, only time will tell.

If it was copied from the Aeon, they should have copied the 350mA's to the LED on High. The runtime would have been drastically improved, and the lumens would have been in the 60-80 lumen neighborhood, still good illumination.
