My EX10 GD is quiet. I have a Gladius that has made noise since I have had it, about 1.5 years.

My D10 GD+ makes a loud whine on max with a fresh NiMh battery. It can easily be heard 1 or 2 feet away, it is by far the loudest flashlight I have ever owned.

The D10 with a NiMH is just whining because it wants a 14500 instead.

Honestly, I think it might be true. Mine whines quietly on alkaline or NiMH, but is perfectly silent on 14500. My guess is that the boost circuit is just working pretty hard and as a result, a bit of whine. No problems with it, just a vibrating inductor. Think of it as humming with power! :naughty:

Well just get the EX10 and save some size. More flexibility with RCR's and CR123.
