Nitecore SRT6?

Does anyone laid a hand on one of these? I'd like to try one but my search for information came up empty. I have the SRT7 which I like a lot - minus the large head. The srt6 seems to be a more pocketable simplified version of the srt7?

I've owned all of the SRT series and I prefer the SRT7. Still, the SRT6 is a solid light. As you said, it is a more pocketable and simplified version of the 7.

It isn't the perfect EDC in my opinion, but it has a smaller head than the 7 and has that fancy striking bezel. I find that the absence of the color beams is a negative, but then I see the thought process behind doing so- Nitecore wanted a no-frills SRT light.

If you already own the SRT7, I don't see a compelling reason to have the 6. The difference in head size is .24 inches, so a quarter of an inch- you probably wouldn't notice the difference in your pocket.

Oh and in terms of the SRT ring, the 6 ring feels exactly the same as the 7 ring. This is significant in that the srt3 and srt5 rings feel a bit more rigid and poke out less from the light.

I like the 7 better as well but the 6 is a nice, simple light. For people who don't want or need the colored LED's it's the only one of the group that doesn't have them.

There are 3-4 SRT6 threads out there if you get a chance to search them. Some have been going since the light was released and another is discussing the LED upgrades.

I'm still searching for one. If you find one let me know :D

But really- I've been carrying the SRT7 lately and I would like something smaller. If you're not terribly concerned with UI, I'd say the Fenix PD35. The only reason I have stayed away from that light is because I prefer the ring interface rather than a secondary button.

I have high hopes for the 4Sevens Maelstrom MMR-X, which hasn't been released just yet. The convenience of USB charging makes for a good EDC light.

You have read my mind. I have just finished doing some search on the PD35. It appears to be a solid EDC light with the right dimensions. Since I am not after extreme lumens and beam distances it could serve the purpose. Think I could get used to the side switch. Another one I am toying with is the Clarus XT11. The double tail button gives pause though (heavy gloves, numb fingers).

I just got my SRT6 and I'm quite suprised. First - it's not as big and bulky as I was afraid it to be. It's bigger/longer than some other 18650 flashlight, but it's not bad. I'm positively suprised with the throw - SRT6 easily outthrows Lumintop P16 which has slightly bigger reflector and smaller XP-G LED. Control ring works quite smooth but a little bit too heavy for my taste. What I also like is a smooth start, it doesn't turn on rapidly with full remembered brightness - output increases smoothly. It works on basically all levels except the last 15% (closest to the max). It also has a downside - there's slight delay between ring rotation and brightness change so when you're doing it quickly brightness may go lower or higher than you expected. The ring itself is pretty precise except the last 15 degrees closest to the max brightness - amount of light is basically the same. Red locator/low voltage indicator is less bright than in Explorer series but that's good because it's less intrusive (shame it doesn't have voltage meter function). Forward switch is pretty stiff and you need to press it quite deep for momentary activation. Other that that - superb build quality, huge amount of light, nice smooth beam and decent throw. For the price I paid it's a bargain.

Hello. Just wanted to chime in on the SRT6. I just purchased mine about a week ago and love it!! I've always been addicted to flashlights but never owned a REAL one until now. I bought a bundle with the SRT6, i2 charger, NL186 battery, and the included SRT6 accessories. You will enjoy this light, small, very well constructed and puts out a ton of light. :thumbsup:

PS. I take back what I said about throw compared to P16. With fresh cells they're about equal.
