The red light flashes every 3 seconds during standby.
When actually on, the red light will only flash when the battery level is low.

The only way to turn the red light off is to totally switch it off.
This is either done when the light is on, by holding down the power button - then total shutdown.
Else, unwind the battery carrier by say 1/4 of a turn to disconnect the current - for true shutdown and lockout...

I like the red light. I think it's a novelty that won't wear off! You can lock it out if you want to keep your battery power for later.

To clarify, the red ring around the switch stays on during operation on the latest version of the TM11. This was not the case on previous versions.

Apparently, this circuit change is associated with the V1.12 batch, but I don't know that for certain. The red light was definitely not continuously-on with the earlier V1.11 batches that I reviewed.
